I beleive i left off just before our hike in the Israeli desert. It was wonderful, though seems so long ago with all that has happened since. We are now in Cairo, far from the Dead Sea, where we floated and rubbed mud all over ourselves! Thane looked hilarious with just his white head popping out of the dark mud stained skin of his lower body, I of course looked totally normal having opted for slathering the minderal rich mud all over my face too! After our Dead Sea float we traveled North to the city of Sefad, pronounced Tsvat. We walked the streets at night surveying the different outfits, they would actually make a great Halloween costume, black suits with four white tassles hanging down from the waist, long beards and curly locks hanging from unshaven side burns, toppedoff with a huge round furr hat. In the morning we walked into the valley below the town and followed the terrain down to the Sea of Galilee, hitched a ride to the closest town and caught a bus to Nazareth. We met afellow north american man named Jim and liked him so much we traveled to Jordan with him.

Jordan was a fabulous country, the people, the unique desert, incredible ruins. Petra may be the most impressive work of art I've ever seen, huge buildings carved into the side of cliffs. Truly spectacular, perhaps the Pyramids will take the cake, perhaps not. We shall see in a few days, but I am rushing. We spent close to 10 days in Jordan and three of those days we spent hiking through the wadi hasa, following the river through the narrow canyon walls. We walked through the water most of the time, or scrambled over the boulders and rocks on the shore when there was one. It was a beautiful hike. Found our way to the small town near the end of the canyon and took the last two seats on the public bus back to the town we had come from. I really wanted Thane to turn around and take picture of me packed in with all the women in their headscarves and Burkas, but we just hate doing that.

Cairo is a busy, dirty, interesting city that we have just begun to explore. We will stay in Egypt for two and a half weeks, the perfect amount of time I beleive. Many egyptians share their hope that Obama will be elected, over 91% of the population supports him. Nice place to be while we wait for the results. Hope everyone is doing well. Love Kendall
